This project started as a spontaneous idea between friends... No real brief, just the urge to shoot something inspired by Lou Escobar’s universe. We wanted to understand what makes her images so striking, then twist it our way. It became less of an exercise and more of a creative playground, mixing instinct, light, and attitude until it just felt right.

Lou Escobar’s work oscillates between two visual worlds : the raw, frontal portraits lit by harsh flash, and the cinematic, neon-soaked scenes that feel somewhere between a 60's diner and modern Tokyo. Our concept was to merge these two aesthetics into a single visual language, keeping the energy of her photography while adding our own interpretation. The mix of bright artificial lights, grainy textures, and intimate framing creates a tension between spontaneity and control. It almost feels like it's both staged and alive.

Even with a full pre-prod doc and a clear concept, the shoot never lost its easy, spontaneous vibe. Everyone knew what we were going for, but no one took it too seriously. And that’s probably why it worked. Between setups, jokes, and a few chaotic behind-the-scenes videos, it all felt like planned instinct. The kind of project that reminds you why creating with friends just hits different.
